Last year, steel production in Spain fell by 1 % in 2018, although imports and activity in the country increased steel consumption by 12 %.

According to UNESID, Spain’s export performance fell by 12,4 % in 2018 as a result of pressure from other countries and the fall of two important markets for the Spanish steel industry, Algeria and Turkey.

As for 2019, UNESID says ‘the first few months have not been bad’, although we will have to look at the new period of EU safeguards for steel imports from third countries.

ALOT continues to make a positive contribution in this sector by manufacturing large-scale turnkey parts for very specific work.
